Admission

The admission process for the Master’s Program in Food Science and Technology (MFST) follows the policies of the University and Faculty. Applicants are prioritized if they hold a bachelor’s degree in a field closely related to Food Science and Technology. For those with different academic backgrounds, a matriculation program is available to equip students with the necessary basic competencies.

For National (Domestic) Applicants

Domestic applicants are must meet the general requirements set by Universitas Gadjah Mada, which can be found in the Universitas Gadjah Mada Entrance Examination Guide. Additionally, the MFST program has the following admission requirements: 

  1. Academic Potential Test with a minimum score of 500.
  2. Proof of English proficiency with a minimum score of 450 on a recognized test (e.g. TOEFL or IELTS).
  3. Previous academic transcripts will be evaluated to ensure the applicants has a relevant academic background in food science and technology.

Additional requirements for applicants applying through the by-research track:

  1. Minimum two years of research experience, or
  2. At least one publication in a national scientific journal indexed in SINTA 3, and
  3. A pre-proposal document outlining research interests.

For International Applicants

International applicants must fulfill academic, language and administrative requirements. For detailed information, applicants can refer to the standard admission requirements of UGM on the Universitas Gadjah Mada Admission website.


Post Graduate Admission Tracks

Regular Track

  1. Self-funded: Intended for applicants who finance their studies independently.
  2. Partnership program: For applicants who have received a scholarship from funding institutions (proven by an official scholarship acceptance letter) or are funded by UGM’s institutional partners (proven by an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)). A list of partner institutions can be selected during the online application.
  3. Scholarship Applicants: For applicants who are in the process of applying for scholarships or awaiting scholarship selection results from various funding organizations

By Research Track

This track is designed for Master’s or Doctoral program applicants with prior research and publication experience, aiming to enhance the quality and quantity of research and publications. The available funding schemes include:

  1. Self-funded:  Applicants finance their studies independently.
  2. Partnership program: Applicants who have received scholarship from funding institution (proven by an official scholarship acceptance letter) or are funded by UGM’s institutional partners (proven by an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)). A list of partners institution can be selected during the online registration.
  3. Scholarship Applicants: Applicants who are in the process of applying for scholarships or awaiting scholarship selection results from various funding organization/institutions.

Double Degree Track

This track is available for Master’s or Doctoral applicants who will study at UGM and a partner university, allowing them to obtain two academic degrees within one study period. This track can be funded through a partner institution’s sponsorship or through self-financing.

International Track

This track is intended for applicants who are foreign applicants.
