MFST Students Participate in UGM Graduate Student PIONIR 2025

Yogyakarta, September 24, 2025 – Graduate students from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM), including representatives from the Master’s Program in Food Science and Technology (MFST), actively participated in PIONIR 2025 for Graduate Students organized by the UGM Graduate School. This year’s program carried the theme “Academic Integrity and Moral Responsibility: The Contribution of Graduate Students for Indonesia.”

The event opened with a traditional welcoming dance, followed by a report from UGM’s Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Hmpri Suyatma, S.Sos., M.Si., who highlighted student organizations (ORMAWA) and supporting facilities for graduate students at UGM.

The program then continued with an introduction of faculty and school leaders across UGM, as well as the university’s rectorate. The Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada delivered a keynote address to the new graduate students of the 2025/2026 academic year, emphasizing the importance of integrity, character, and intellectual responsibility in education. He also introduced the vision of UGM 2025 and Beyond, built upon three core pillars: inclusive, independent, and sustainable.

The agenda also featured an academic oration by Dr. Arie Sujito, S.Sos., M.Si., titled “Recognizing UGM as a Scholarly Community and Intellectual Responsibility.” Another academic oration was delivered by Mr. Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah, President Director of PT Bandara Internasional Batam, with the theme “Academic Integrity and Moral Responsibility: The Contribution of Graduate Students for Indonesia.” He underlined the crucial role of graduate students in upholding academic ethics and contributing to national development.

Two distinguished speakers, Prof. Dr. Gandes Retno Rahayu, M.Med.Ed., and Prof. Dr. Agus Suwignyo, enriched the discussion with insights on academic integrity and scientific publications. This session was moderated by Dr. Naila Zulfa, M.A., M.S., PGDIP, Ph.D., FHEA.

In the afternoon session, a public lecture began with “Healthy Relationships” delivered by dr. Dr. Andreasta Meliala, M.Kes., from UGM Health Services. The lecture emphasized the importance of fairness, equality, democracy, non-dominance, non-exploitation, and anti-violence in building a safe and inclusive campus environment. It was followed by a presentation from Ms. Desi Yulianti, S.E., M.Acc., who discussed UGM’s support for graduate students through scholarships, student organizations, study facilities, and a globally competitive academic ecosystem.

 

The program concluded with the introduction of the Graduate Student Association (HMP) by its committee members, who encouraged students to take part in various initiatives through entrepreneurship, professional collaboration, publication, and achievements.

The participation of MFST students in PIONIR 2025 reflects their commitment to strengthening academic integrity and moral responsibility. It is expected that they will continue to serve as role models and agents of change, making a positive impact both within the university and in the wider community.
