Jakarta, April 15, 2026 – The Master’s Program in Food Science and Technology (MFST), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, visited PT IMCD Indonesia in Jakarta as part of its efforts to strengthen collaboration between higher education and the food industry.
This activity marked a strategic step by MFST UGM to improve the relevance of its learning and research so that they remain aligned with industry needs, while also opening opportunities for collaboration that can provide real benefits for both students and industry partners.
During the visit, the Head of MFST UGM, Dr. Widiastuti Setyaningsih, was welcomed by Imelina Waty and Kevin, Head of Laboratory Food and Nutrition at PT IMCD Indonesia. The meeting took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere, with discussions focusing on various areas of collaboration that could be developed in a sustainable manner.
One of the main points discussed was the opportunity for MFST students to take part in an internship program at PT IMCD Indonesia, which could later be developed into a thesis research topic. This scheme is expected to provide students with a more applied learning experience while also strengthening the connection between academic learning and industrial practice.
In addition, PT IMCD Indonesia shared that it frequently receives requests from clients related to product formulation, product development, and quality analysis. These areas are considered highly relevant to the academic expertise developed in MFST Program, creating opportunities for collaboration in the form of internships as well as thesis research.
This initial engagement is expected to become the first step in building a strategic partnership between MFST UGM and PT IMCD Indonesia. Through this collaboration, MFST UGM remains committed to providing education that is adaptive, applied, and responsive to the dynamics of the food industry, while preparing graduates who are ready to contribute professionally at both the national and global levels.
